AEG is able to perform Respiratory Fit-Testing (qualitative) training for workers needing air purifying respirators to perform their tasks. OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard, 1910.134(e), states that the employer will ensure each employee is provided with a safe and healthy workplace free of hazards; if that’s not feasible, the employer shall provide necessary Personal Protective Equipment for each worker. The employer must determine each employee’s fitness to wear a respirator by way of either the administration of a medical questionnaire or a physical examination that elicits the same information as the questionnaire, or both. The employer is required to make arrangements with a Physician or other Licensed Health Care Professional (PLHCP) to make the evaluation, and provide a written opinion to the employer concerning the employee’s ability to use a respirator.
